With over 10 years of dance teaching experience spanning from Nursery & Pre-Primary in Dance to Intermediate and adult students, Harrison School of Dance are proud to offer Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) ballet lessons for children, adults and over 50’s in Newton Aycliffe.
Harrison School of Dance provides an inclusive and exciting environment for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy ballet. Classes run all the way through the year including during school holidays, apart from at Christmas when we close for 2 weeks.

Meet Lauren
Miss Lauren started Harrison School of Dance in 2022. It started with just 2 Silver Swans classes in a community centre and has been built into the wonderful school we have today. She has over 15 years of dance teaching experience spanning from Nursery & Pre-Primary in Dance to Intermediate and adult students, as well as experience preparing students for RAD exams with a 100% pass rate.
She has studied RAD ballet since she was 3 years old, demonstrating her dedication and loyalty to the art form. She completed all her RAD ballet grades from Pre-Primary to Grade 8 and moved on to study the Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies with the RAD in 2019. She completed the course in 2021 and received her Registered Teachers Status (RTS). After gaining RTS, she undertook extra RAD training which enabled her to teach Silver Swans Over 50's ballet. Studying with the RAD means Miss Lauren has the most up to date knowledge and skills to keep her students safe and to help them to reach their full potential. She has up to date first aid training, DBS checks and safeguarding children qualifications.
Meet Charlotte
Miss Charlotte has studied RAD Ballet since the age of 3, completing examinations from Pre-Primary through to Grade 8, as well as the RAD Vocational Graded examinations.
In addition to ballet, she has trained in jazz, contemporary, tap, and performing arts. Her performance experience includes appearing at the Patron's Lunch in honour of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, performing in London's West End, and dancing with English Youth Ballet.
After graduating from the University of Sunderland with a degree in Professional Dance, Miss Charlotte continued her studies with the Royal Academy of Dance through the Certificate in Dance Teaching Studies programme, gaining Registered Teacher Status (RTS) in 2026.
Meet Sophie
Miss Sophie has been helping out at Harrison School of Dance as a dance assistant since 2023. She has loved every moment of working with Miss Lauren.
She has been taking part in performing arts and dance classes since the age of 3 achieving distinction level in acting, singing and dancing grades. She recently completed her A-level's in Theatre and performance studies and is currently studying Musical Theatre at University.
She has lots of experience with being part of many theatre productions and has performed on a West End stage 3 times. We are lucky enough to have Miss Sophie sing for us in our annual shows and she also helps out with exams.
